An open invitation to be proactive in the defense of Bouviers. . . . .

This is an open invitation to anyone who would like to help with donations towards educational classified ads around the country. For the past year,  the Greater Washington Bouvier Club has run an ad in the Philadelphia Inquirer with a local Pennsylvania phone number.

With the direction of Carol Rauch, we developed the brochure that can be downloaded from Jan Rifkinson's BouvSite @ URL http://www.bogartsdaddy.com/bouvier/buyersguide

We negotiated with the paper for a severely reduced rate for a one year contract and have run the ad Friday, Saturday and Sunday for almost a year. We developed a litter referral program to offer healthy litters which is managed by Nancy Swenson from the DC area and Carol and a group of valiant volunteers have been responding to ads offering the educational brochure, litter referrals and rescue information. We think we have been very successful but will be re-contacting those who called from the past year to answer a questionnaire. We plan to get statistics regarding the results of those inquiries.

We, as a club, are putting our money and resources toward a solution and are more than willing to pass on our expertise and advice to anyone else who might be in a similar situation. We worked with Mary Alice in Tucson with phone calls, advice and referrals. We are happy to help eradicate irrational breeding and anyone else around the country who wishes to do the same. If you have a local problem and want our help with your solution, we'll be there for you.

We paid for the year's ad and accepted donations from those who wanted to help with paying for the phone, ads and other ongoing expenses. We can help others by negotiating with your local papers, suggesting a phone system that would work and how to keep everything from conflicts of interest (the litter referral). We can take donations and segregate those funds for specific programs around the country or try to develop a national program with an 800 toll free number to counteract those ads in national magazines and on the Internet.

Anyone interested?

Call Carol Rauch or contact me at this address for more information or help. If you want to help us for next year, send your donation to

Be sure to specify your designation for those funds.

There are people out here who are quietly trying to help and everyone can participate. Our work will make a difference.
