The Birthday Hi All, Today was filled with anticipation as The Pouncer sat in his favorite spot by the window watching the birds at the feeders. It was almost as if he knew the day was special...and special it was, after all...not every dog gets to celebrate their 3rd birthday in the style he's become accustomed to. Wait!! Is that the doorbell? Yes and it's the UPSman with a package...I can see it in his eyes, Pouncie thinks this package is for him. Donnie (the UPSman), waiving at Pounce through the window hollered "Hey guy! I have a package for you!" Now how do you suppose Pounce knew what he was saying? He did you know, because he left his seat at the window, ran to the door and looked on with anticipation as I opened it up. I brought the package (addressed to "Mr. Pounce Witney") in and laid it on the coffee table while I signed for it and the other packages I received. Pouncie went over to the table and sniffed at the package and put his paw on it....sorry guy, not till daddy comes home. Well, he sat there all afternoon. When hubby arrived home, it seemed as if Pounce was even happier than usual to see him. I told him about the package and we proceeded to open it up. Imagine our surprise when inside we found a stuffed, almost life-size Dalmatian sent from upstate NY from Pouncie's grandmother (My mother-in-law.) What a guy, he took the pup in his mouth and proceeded to prance around the living room as if to say "Hey, look at me, I have my own pet." Not that this was his first stuffed animal, mind you, but that's another story for another time. After his very special dinner (kibble and liver) we took the birthday boy to his favorite haunt...Carvel's, for his favorite ice cream and attention. All the kids just love to watch him as he lies down and holds the cup of vanilla ice cream between his paws and laps up every last drop. We told the people who were watching it was his birthday and they all sang "Happy Birthday" while he looked around, acting every bit the celebrity he is. Now, he's lying contentedly in front of the TV (I think he thinks we're watching him) with his new 'baby' under his chin and a peaceful look on his dear face. Well, that's it for another year...nothing to look forward to except the next special day in the life of my guy...Christmas!! Have a good evening everyone, Mollie & The Birthday Boy |
