My Name is Kona And I'm Tuff by Bill Hollinger
I am 12 weeks old and really big. At least I think so. I weigh 23 1/2 pounds. Today in my yard we had a big fence fight. Everybody was there, Niko (he is my dad), Miss Pippy, Shadowfax (she thinks she is a queen), Tasha and uncle Sherman. It was very noisy and scary, but I swelled up as big as I could and got real stiff, just like the big dogs do. Then I charged up to bark and fight too! But dad stood up and boxed the fence with his feet and it got really noisy and I got scared and backed up. So I bit mom’s garden hose and shook it real hard! Our people dad came and got Uncle Shermie because he’s old and has arthritis and has to have EtoGesic when he fence fights. People dad gives Uncle Shermie a Greenie bone to make him happy. My dad is very tuff indeed, but Miss Pippy is the boss. That’s because she is a girl. I like that because I’m a girl too. I played with dad after the fighting was finished (we won). I sneak up near him, then charge and jump on him! Dad lays on the ground so I can do this. But sometimes he stands up and I fall off. Dad’s ball is too big for me. I can ’t get it in my mouth. I went to the office today and I growled at George. Mom picked me up and made me be nice. I have to ride in my crate. Mom says that’s because she is afraid I’ll poop in the car. I pooped in the house on the rug. People dad stepped in it. He had bare feet and he got grumpy. I have to take a nap now. Bye.
