I want my BouvTV

Talk about TV watching.... I have in my midst a "TVaholic" for a dog. He watches anything and everything on TV intently. At times when the TV is off, he will go over and sit infront of it. Then look over at me as if to say "ah come on Mom turn it on". If ever he learns how to use the remote, I will be in big trouble.

Brutty has his favorite commercials. If he is asleep or in another room, and hears a commercial come on that he knows, he comes running to sit in front of the TV and watch it. It doesn't necessarily have to include animals, but if it does that's a big plus.

He loves to watch Sports. Golf is one of his favorites. We were watching the masters. And Brutus was laying in front of the TV, watching. When the leader board came up, he jumped up into his sit position to see who was winning. He also likes football, but now that the Browns have left Cleveland, he's not so interested anymore. But he loves his Ohio State Buckeyes. And during the World Series, he would watch and get excited and Bark, when the Indians did something good.

We have had lots of fun with his interest in TV. If something comes on, that I think he would like, I say "Brutty go look at TV" and off he runs to sit in front of it, to watch. If you don't believe it, ask Sue, she saw it. If he's in our way and we can't see around him, we say "Brutty I can't see", and he moves slightly off center so that we can see, and he still has his vantage point.

I am also using the TV as a distraction for training. Last week Discovery channel had a wonderful program on the Sawtooth Wolf Pack of Idaho. For  anyone that missed it, keep your eyes open they will replay it. This pack was formed by a filmmaker, and watched for 6 years. It was really wonderful, but  I digress. Anyway, I used the hour long documentary to keep Brutus in a down stay. For him this was a big challenge. As he likes to sit right in front of the TV (next thing he's gonna need glasses for sitting so close, ;D). For this exercise, I put him in a down/stay at my feet, while I sat on the couch. He remained for the entire show. He watched the show from his down/stay, and I also used it as an opportunity to do attention exercises, by frequently getting him to watch me, and not the show.

One time, and this is the last and probably the funniest thing. We had the radio on, and a commercial that usually plays on the TV came on the radio. Well, yes folks you guessed, Mr. Smarty goes running to the TV to watch his commercial, and low and behold the screen is black. He was so confused, he looks at me, he looks at the TV, he looks at the speakers, cocks his head, and starts to howl.

LOLOLOL as if to say "Where's my SHOW!!!!"

Just another funny Bouv story to share.

Rona & Brutus(Excuse me mom, I'm studying the preview channel to decide what I want to watch

[More] BouvTV

My sisters' Bouv Hank watches TV as well. When she was sick she watched the typical soaps, Hank followed the people talking and got rather excited when they did. Now he has advanced to snapping at certain animals, licking the set for others. He loves some videos and will leave the room if he doesn't like what he sees. He hates Batman, growls and snaps and then leaves the room. Want to see a Bouv move? Ask him what's on TV, he has also gotten to the point that he will start pawing at the VCR if he wants a movie on. His favorite... Fly away home. Their other Bouv has no idea of what Hank sees on the TV or just can't be bothered with it. He also loves the Pepsi commercial of Norman Pheeny. My vote is Yes, some of them can actually see what's going on, on the TV.
